Inaugural alumni event held in London at our founding school, Dulwich College

On Sunday 11 December, for the first time ever, Dulwich College International (DCI) hosted an event that brought together over 50 International Old Alleynians (IOAs) from all DCI schools in China. Named after the founder of Dulwich College, an Elizabethan actor and entrepreneur Edward Alleyn, students who have completed an academic qualification in any of DCI network of schools are collectively known as IOAs.

The alumni reunion lunch at the historic Salle Pavillion at Dulwich College began with a social mixer and a welcome speech from The Master of Dulwich College, Dr Joseph Spence. The sounds of old friends reuniting, punctuated by the popping of Christmas crackers, created a lively and festive atmosphere. One IOA from Dulwich College Shanghai commented: "It was lovely to catch up with old friends, meet new ones and of course, see the campus.”

In his closing speech Dr Cameron Pyke, Deputy Master External of Dulwich College, emphasised the strong relationship between Dulwich College and the Dulwich College International schools. Before leaving, alumni enjoyed a private tour of Dulwich College that provided an insight into its heritage. 

The reunion event garnered a buzz across social media platforms and positive responses from IOAs. An IOA from Dulwich International High School Zhuhai posted on Facebook, “Had a fantastic reunion today at Dulwich College…Feeling absolutely grateful to be part of the Dulwich family, looking forward to more events coming in the future!”

International Old Alleynians is the term for the Dulwich College International alumni who have left or graduated from a Dulwich College International school after completing an academic qualification. There are currently over 1,300 IOAs across the globe with sizeable chapters in London, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto and Vancouver.
