Dr Joe Spence: Dulwich Olympiad, Celebrating 400 Years

Four hundred years ago, on 21 June 1619, Edward Alleyn founded “the College of God’s Gift at Dulwich”. Since then, the College that has long been a pioneer in education, has expanded its ethos and best practice out into the wider world with seven International Schools and two International High Schools in Asia bearing the Dulwich name, which are also known as The Dulwich Commonwealth of Schools.

One exciting event coming up in March to celebrate our shared traditions, innovation, and especially our holistic education is the Dulwich Olympiad, a quadrennial event in which around 1,000 students across Dulwich College International network will gather at the founding College in London to participate in workshops and events and showcase their abilities in sport, drama, music and art.

Building on the success of the inaugural event in Beijing in 2015, the Dulwich Olympiad 2019 will be a prestigious and memorable experience to commemorate this special moment in the College’s history.

Let us hear what Dr Spence, the Master of Dulwich College, had to say about this exciting occasion during his visit in Dulwich College Beijing last November.
