Dulwich College Beijing student wins CCTV competition

Dulwich College Beijing student Tony Yun won the high profile music competition on CCTV on Friday 10th October.

Tony was selected as one of the final eight contestants in the second round of the competition. In this round, Tony played Beethoven No.8 sonata Opus.30 No.3 (Allegro vivace) as an accompanist to a professional violinist. He then played a Chinese piece Mo Li Hua, known as the second national anthem of China. He spent a day working with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, performing/rehearsing Chopin Concerto no. 1.

Winning the competition means that at the age of 13, the young pianist now has the opportunity to sign a contract with the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Shanghai Symphony to perform concertos with them and tour Paris and London. He will also perform as part of the CCTV New Years Concert.
