2012 Dec Parent Information Sessions in Singapore

Meeting the parents! The first in a series of Parent Information Sessions for Dulwich College (Singapore) were held between 5th and 7th December 2012. With sessions held over three days, nearly 300 prospective parents were given a flavour and glimpse of life at a Dulwich College. Held in an old shop house at Monk’s Hill Terrace, the room provided an intimate yet contemporary setting for parents to mingle with our team in Singapore. Nick Magnus, the headmaster for Singapore campus, gave a brief presentation on Dulwich College, its history, ethos and plans for Singapore. Kate Beith, Assistant Director of Schools, Early Years, DCI, and Annabel Parker, Assistant Director of Schools, Mandarin, DCI, joined us at the sessions to talk about the plans for Early Years and Mandarin curriculum at DCSG.

The smaller groups gave us an opportunity to answer all parents’ questions in detail and allowed Nick Magnus and the team to meet all the parents personally. "We chose the venue to make sure we could get across to parents how much we value their involvement in the life of the College", Nick Magnus said. "We can only achieve that and understand the needs of their children if we have a more personal relationship with them."

"Our focus on academic excellence, mandarin and the creative arts seemed to strike a chord with parents at the sessions," Nick added. Several parents have already put their children down and we will be carrying out testing in the New Year after admissions open officially. More sessions are planned in our new Admissions office in the New Year and information will be posted on the DCSG website. In the meantime, do feel free to drop Nick Magnus an email at [email protected] if you have any questions.
