Junior School MADD-ness Magic in Dulwich College Seoul

Last week Junior School students from across the DCI network took part in the fourth annual MADD (music, art, drama and dance) festival, hosted this year by Dulwich College Seoul. The festival theme was Magic, with all things wizardly and wonderful woven into each of the four artistic disciplines.

Visual and performing arts are an important part of a Dulwich education, giving students the opportunity to persevere and develop their confidence, creativity and self-expression. Throw in the opportunity to make new friends with students from across the network in Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Singapore and Suzhou, and our students also learn about teamwork and collaboration – while having a lot of fun along the way.

Over the course of three days, Year 5 to Year 7 students rehearsed, performed, painted, decorated and enjoyed performances. They enjoyed a very special magic performance from The Magician, a magic group based in Korea and winners of the Comedy Magic Awards at the 2015 Magic Olympics held in Italy.

Alongside our music and art teachers, festival groups were led by external practitioners including lecturers and students from the University of Auckland and the drama duo Nose 2 Nose. They guided our fantastic MADD festival participants leading up to the Art Galleries and Gala Concert held on the final day.

A huge thank you to Dulwich College Seoul for hosting this event. We cannot wait for MADD 2018, to be hosted by Dulwich College Beijing.
