Lord Turnbull’s visit to DCSL

On the 24th of March 2011, Dulwich College Seoul was honored to host the visit of Lord Turnbull, formerly U.K. Cabinet Secretary and Head of the U.K. Civil Service, who is also the Chairman of the Dulwich College London Board of Governors. During his short visit to Korea, he expressed a strong interest in coming to DCSL to see the latest member of the Dulwich family. Lord Turnbull was welcomed by Ms. McGowan and the Junior School Choir, who sang three songs on his arrival at our school. He was then given a short tour of the College, where he was able to meet a few of the students, staff and parents. Lord Turnbull was most complementary about the design of the school and the wonderful displays he saw as he moved around the different parts of the building, remarking on the great progress DCSL has made in the short time since its opening. The main reason for Lord Turnbull’s visit was to meet with senior officials in Seoul to ensure the smooth progress of DCSL negotiations for the Secondary School site. Along with DCMI Chairman, Fraser White and DCMI CEO Christian Guertler, he enjoyed two fruitful meetings with the Mayor of Seoul, Se Hoon Oh and the Mayor of Seocho, Ik Chul Jin. We are encouraged by the tone of the meetings as we move forward on this very important endeavor.
