STOMP at Dulwich College Beijing

The sound of stomps, claps, and slaps filled The Wodehouse Theatre at Dulwich College Beijing on Wednesday 24 August when Senior School students were treated to an interactive performance by four members of theatrical percussion group STOMP.

The internationally acclaimed group visited Beijing as part of the group’s 25th anniversary tour. STOMP has performed in 53 different countries across six continents. It originated in Brighton in the UK and the practitioners use the body and ordinary objects, such as newspapers and bins, to create a unique kind of physical theatre performance.

The students and staff members were captivated by the performance and were delighted to join in. Afterwards students had the chance to ask a number of questions and some students were then chosen to join the STOMP group for their own collaborative performance. Parents and friends of the College were invited to join the group for another performance on Saturday 27 August. The event was very well received by the community and a true testament to music as an engaging universal communication tool.
