The Master of Dulwich College visits Dulwich College International schools

Dulwich College is one of the UK’s most prestigious independent schools and in 1996 became the first to open a campus overseas. Dulwich College acts as educational advisor to Dulwich College International and now has the largest overseas network of any British independent schools. Dulwich College is active at every level of the DCI schools with collaborative projects between teachers and students, inspections and visits from the Master and Deputy Master (External).

On Friday 21 October Dulwich College in Singapore welcomed the Master of Dulwich College, Dr Joseph Spence, to the school. He spoke to Junior School students about being a CAT - someone who can respond to Challenge, Adapt and Thrive. Dr Spence spoke with parents at The Clock Tower Café before taking a tour of the College. He was particularly impressed with the new performing arts facilities and the school restaurant, where he sat down to lunch with the Junior and Senior School House Captains.

On Tuesday 25 October Dr Spence visited Dulwich International High School Zhuhai for the first time. He met with representatives from the school's academic and development partners, Yung Wing School and Huafa Group. Dr Spence said he was “delighted to celebrate our links with Yung Wing and the Huafa Group,” and that it was with their help that Dulwich International High School Zhuhai had become a “powerful young school.”

After speaking to a number of the students Dr Spence said, “They have been very impressive. They have a great pride in where they are from but also an international sensibility.” He was impressed with how the students at Dulwich International High School Zhuhai seem to “be diligent, and understand the value of education. They like to make the most of the opportunities that are available in the school.”

During his visits to both schools, Dr Joe Spence spoke about the founding College’s holistic educational approach, which incorporates academic, sports, drama, adventures and charitable activities, noting, "We love the idea that there is more to learning than just the classroom.” The Dulwich College International schools follow this approach and have continued the tradition of academic excellence and innovation synonymous with Dulwich College, delivering outstanding examination results that place the schools amongst the best in the UK.
