Dulwich International Zhuhai High School hosts ISCMS Festival

Since its first festival in Beijing in 2008, with 120 students from just 10 schools, ISCMS has grown phenomenally. This year’s festival, hosted by Dulwich International High School Zhuhai, has attracted over 300 participants from 22 schools throughout Asia, including Ulaanbaatar, Busan, Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai. Every ISCMS festival gives students the experience of performing challenging and diverse pieces of music, by composers such as Fauré, Haydn, Vivaldi and Mozart, alongside accomplished musicians in world-class venues, including Beijing’s Forbidden City Concert Hall and Shanghai’s Oriental Arts Centre. Dr. Robert Hasty from Northwestern University in Chicago and Dr. Martin Adams from Trinity College Dublin have been the musical directors and mentors at every festival and will return again this year. Mike Vax, International Artist for the Getzen Musical Instrument Company, joined us last year for the first time and will be joining us again to lead our Big Band. We are delighted to welcome Colin Touchin of the Warwick School as our Choral Director. The Gala concert this year promises to be a spectacular event with a programme that demonstrates the skill and talent of the ISCMS students and festival leaders.
