Another outstanding year for university acceptance offers for Dulwich College In

Students across the Dulwich College International (DCI) schools have received offers from leading universities in the UK, US, Hong Kong and across the globe.

This year, the graduating class has received offers to attend Ivy League institutions such as Harvard University, Brown University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College and University of Pennsylvania. Those looking to study in the UK have received offers from leading Russell Group universities including University of Oxford, Cambridge University, Durham University, King’s College London, University College London and the University of Bristol.

DCI’s university counseling activities start in Year 9 and prepare students for the university admissions process in their chosen destinations. This preparation delivers results, and this year, acceptances have come through in significant numbers. King’s College London has offered places to 28 students from DCI schools. 26 students have received offers from University College London and 20 students have been offered a place at the University of Edinburgh.

Heather Pineda, Director of University Counseling for Dulwich College International suggests that this success derives from students’ passion for what they do and a learning environment that promotes academic excellence while encouraging students to pursue their individual talents.

“Outstanding academic results alone do not guarantee university admission,” Pineda stresses “especially in the US. Admissions officers read through applicants’ supplementary writing and personal statements to discern the individual’s personality. Authenticity will come through in the continuity and singular voice of writing.”

Pineda describes students from Dulwich College Beijing, where one in 10 of the graduating class has received an offer from an Ivy League school, as “not so much well-rounded, but pointy” – emphasising their personal commitment to a chosen interest or cause.

The best universities are selecting a comparatively small number of students from a pool of academically successful candidates. Significant numbers of students receiving offers from the best universities in the world demonstrates the strength of the extracurricular provision and support offered to dedicated Dulwich College International students.
