Dulwich College Beijing hosts Chinese Chess Grandmasters Sun Qinan and Ye Jiangc
Today Dulwich College Beijing welcomed China’s third Grandmaster, veteran chess player Ye Jiangchuan. Jiangchuan is the second prominent Chess player invited to the College this month. On Friday 9 September the College hosted Chess Grandmaster Sun Qinan and with House Chess underway in the Senior School, Mr Sun came to speak to interested students and demonstrated some moves.
Daniel Press, a Maths teacher who also leads House Chess commented: “This has been a wonderful addition to the House Chess Competition. Having played a couple of games against one of the masters, they are certainly top notch players who will undoubtedly inspire and galvanise our students in developing their game.”
Emily H in Year 5 said: “It’s very fun because it’s nice to compete with a lot of other children and to get to know each other.”
It is an honour for the College to host such distinguished guests and hope that this further encourages students to engage in this wonderful game.
