Dulwich College Suzhou raises over RMB 250,000 for charity

Saturday 9th May was the 7th annual International Day and Founder’s Day Celebration at Dulwich College Suzhou, one of the biggest events in the College calendar. The event is all about celebrating the diversity of our community and the spirit of Dulwich College life. Founder’s Day is a special occasion marking our direct link to Dulwich College London which was founded almost 400 years ago.

There was a packed programme of events with food stalls from 30 countries, bouncy castles, face painting, performances from local Chinese schools, traditional country dances, the Suzhou Youth Orchestra and almost 40 different vendors selling their products and services. The event drew to a close with a musical programme from Dulwich College students, ending with a stunning performance from our exciting Taiko Drummers.

A very important aspect of the day was to raise funds for charity and this year over 250,000RMB was raised from this event. The Friends of Dulwich, representing the school’s parent community, have chosen to support the Suzhou Jiayue Early Childhood Intervention Centre, a training and rehabilitation centre for children with hearing disabilities, developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorders. It will also be used for many other FoD projects over the coming months. With great food, great weather, great entertainment and The College packed with visitors, it made for another memorable International & Founder's Day. Our thanks to all who attended, and to our country reps, vendors and sponsors, for making this a very special day for the community.
