Mr. Fraser White, Founder and Executive Chairman, Dulwich College International agreed, "We are very pleased to be bringing what we believe is a distinctive education to Singapore, one of the world’s major cities. Dulwich College was the first British independent school to venture overseas. We are proud to be opening our seventh College here in Singapore. Seven Colleges, under one Dulwich roof, which follow the same academic ethos, providing students with opportunities within each and across all. A Dulwich education appeals to a diverse group of parents, whose decision to move abroad is very often influenced by the availability of a high quality education. We want to thank EDB and the Singapore Government for their support and the opportunity to bring a Dulwich College here. Dulwich College (Singapore) will be a welcome, valuable and strong member of our family of schools and a stepping stone to achieve our vision of an integrated family of schools around the world," he said. Dulwich College believes in preparing its students for an increasingly globalised and inter-connected world, where cultural awareness, consideration, imagination, confidence and linguistic ability will be the bedrock of success. Dulwich College places great emphasis on Mandarin Chinese. Students will enjoy a tailored Mandarin curriculum based on its experience from its Colleges and Programmes in China. There will be daily Mandarin classes and dual language classes in English and Chinese beginning in Early Years (from Toddler and Nursery; aged 3). Students are also encouraged to explore their talents outside the classroom. There are extensive music and performing arts programmes, societies, sports and co-curricular activities with leading universities such as Oxford for mathematics and Georgetown for debating. Mr. Christian Guertler, CEO of Dulwich College International, said, "Dulwich College (Singapore) will have the same defining elements as our existing six Colleges in Asia, which are firmly rooted in the finest British independent school traditions but truly international in outlook. They are very successful in sending their students equally to the top universities in the US, UK and elsewhere. All our Colleges are embracing an academic ethos shaped by eastern rigour and the western holistic approach. It is a network with a relentless focus on the welfare of the students all combining to create an environment that inspires excellence, curiosity, adventure and courage."
