HakD: student-led inaugural “Hackathon” at Dulwich Pudong

Imagine an app where you can order food delivery for needy families, or a virtual hard drive that can store vast amounts of information. These are just some of the projects that Dulwich College International students developed in response to the theme “making life easier” at our first network-wide hackathon, HakD.

The three-day event, organised by a group of passionate Dulwich College International students and hosted at Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong, brought 30 students from Dulwich College Beijing, Suzhou and Shanghai Pudong together to explore the intersections of computer programming, creativity and entrepreneurship. After a series of rapid learning workshops focused on topics such as coding, 3D printing and digital imaging, students worked diligently together to find innovative ways to solve problems in our daily lives.

We applaud the student committee not only for bringing their ideas to life in the organisation of the inaugural HakD, but for thinking ahead. Thanks to HakD’s initial success, it will become an annual event, extending to more schools and students across the region in years to come. (Find out more at www.hakd.online.)
